Statue of Unity
The 182-metre (600 feet approx.) statue is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of independent India. The colossal monument towers over River Narmada, a tribute to India ‘from the people of Gujarat’ to the leader who placed people’s welfare first.
The iconic Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue, stands as a testament to the power of innovative construction techniques. One such example is the strategic use of RFID technology to ensure seamless tracking and monitoring. The statue's 12,000 bronze panels, each intricately crafted, were RFID tagged at the source, enabling real-time tracking throughout the supply chain. From manufacturing to transportation, storage at the laydown area, and final erection, each panel's journey was meticulously monitored.
This RFID-enabled transparency ensured precision, accountability, and efficiency. Moreover, the RFID tags continue to facilitate streamlined Operations and Maintenance (O&M), enabling swift identification and maintenance of individual panels. This pioneering application of RFID technology in construction has set a new benchmark for infrastructure projects worldwide.
