Quarantine during a pandemic is a must. Indian Government has begun stamping the hands of the people who have been advised home quarantine in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Authorities are using indelible ink like that used for voters mostly on those who have a travel history. Most of such people are not following the instructions given by Government for quarantine.

People are not staying at home, running away from quarantine locations and creating more risk for other healthy people. To avoid such scenarios, we thought real time tracking facility for such quarantine patients will help Government.

What does quarantine mean?

Governments use quarantines to stop the spread of contagious diseases. Quarantines are for people or groups who don’t have symptoms but were exposed to the sickness. A quarantine keeps them away from others so they don’t unknowingly infect anyone.

Quarantines may be used during:
  • Outbreaks When there’s a sudden rise in the number of cases of a disease.
  • Epidemics: Similar to outbreaks, but generally considered larger and more widespread.
  • Pandemics: Larger than epidemics, generally global in nature and affect more people.
What’s the difference between isolation and quarantine?

While isolation serves the same purpose as quarantine, it’s reserved for those who are already sick. It keeps infected people away from healthy people to prevent the sickness from spreading.

To stop the spread of the coronavirus, health officials have a recommended refrain: After being in a city or region where there have been a lot of COVID-19 cases, spend 14 days in quarantine even if you feel perfectly fine.

A: RFID Tag Association

  1. If health officials found anyone who is travelled or came in contact with Corona positive patient then those are asked to quarantine.
  2. Such patients detail information will be captured on NFC based application software like Name, Age, Address, Mobile No., Photograph, etc.
  3. Wristband will be fixed with pin which could not be removed without special magnet tool.
  4. Through NFC mobile application this wristband will be associated with quarantine patient.
  5. Quarantine patient address will be Geofenced through NFC mobile application.

B: Location Confirmation

  1. All quarantine patients need to be traced periodically.
  2. With NFC mobile application prompt to scan it is possible.
  3. Once the prompt comes patient himself or health officials can visit to quarantine patient’s address and scan the wristband.
  4. If quarantine address matches with marked Geofence then system will confirm that quarantine patient is at place.
  5. If quarantine address NOT matches with marked Geofence then system will give alert to health officials.

  3. If quarantine address matches with marked Geofence then system will confirm that quarantine patient is at place.
  4. Alerts will be triggered in case of
    • If Wrist band is going away from Mobile Phone Bluetooth Range
    • If Wrist Band is cut-off
    • If quarantine address NOT matches with marked Geofence then system will give alert to health officials.
